Questions & Answers for ProCollar ProCollar Premium Inflatable Protective Collar

Question

How effective is this product?

ProCollar Premium Inflatable Protective Collar effective for my dog who has a spot on his right front leg where he licked off all of his fur. He has a hard cone from the vet already but hates it.

Will this collar prevent him from licking his front leg while giving him a better sense of comfort?

Does the job without my cat being so miserable. He acts pretty much just as he did before the surgery on his stomach. Would recommend.

This product has been great for my Pomeranian. He was licking a spot on his front leg, too. This collar kept him from doing that, while also allowing him to eat, sleep and play, normally. We keep it on him most of the time. Just make sure you attach your dog's regular collar to it, so he can't get it off. Good luck!

This collar will not limit his ability to reach his front legs! Even if it stays on your dog for any length of time the front legs are not protected. I have a 6mo old Golden he gets if off in 3 minutes no matter how tight we fasten it down. Don't waste your money.

I used the product for my dog. He has a mass removed from his front leg. This collar completely prevented him from licking the wound and he actually enjoys wearing it. This product is a great concept except it completely deflated after 1 day and after inspecting it I realized there was a huge hole in it. I ended up just stuffing old t-shirts in the outer shell of the cone and it works great. This product is way too expensive because it doesnt last, I would recoomend trying to see if you can get it on sale. I would still recoomend it only because it is so comfortable for the dog.

Probably not, while my dog wasn't able to reach or wasn't interest in irritating his post surgical wound with the ProCollar, he was able to lick his foot with this. But I have a chihuahua and their long and flexible, so maybe if you have stalky dog (like a bull dog) maybe he won't be able to reach it.

Yes! It's like a pillow. Some air can be let out so that it is not fully inflated to suit your pets comfort level. Be sure to follow the instructions and thread your pets collar through the inner rings of the tube or else the tube will slide off. Good for sleeping. May have to raise water/food bowls for small/toy pets so that the tube does not interfere with drinking & eating. My chihuahua LOVES this product over the e-collar (which was horrible). Worth the cost. I can't say enough positive things about this product.

Question

Can the dog puncture the pro collar by scratching ? Can he still get through a doggy door?

My dog needs a cancerous tumor removed from the genital area. Could he reach this spot? He has big claws and is a big Weimaraner at 100 pounds and was wondering if the collar wil fit. I noticed some very small dogs wearing a medium size.He would also need to get through a doggy door. Has anyone had success with these issues?

My pup learned, within minutes, how to turn her head to get in & out of the dog door. However, with effort on her part, she could reach her rear end. You might have to double up on the collar. Measure his collar to see if the extra large will fit.

He won't be able to reach his genital area with this collar. Measure your dog's neck with a tape measure. It looks like the largest collar might fit up to a 21-inch neck. If it doesn't work out, I'm sure Petco will take it back. Just save the packaging and receipt. I've been very pleased with this collar for my dog's eye injury. He seems so much happier wearing this one compared to the plastic cone collar he had on previously. Good luck!!

Be sure to purchase the correct size for your dog's neck (take a measurement). Should work if product is worn properly w/collar inserted through inner rings of tube (important). Perhaps take pet into the store to check it out before purchase. I have a chihuahua and the product works perfectly. May have to raise food/water bowls so that pet can eat/drink while wearing the collar.

I found other reviews which may apply to your question...
"My dog is flexible and has long legs and a pointy muzzle. He was able to obsessively continue licking his rear paw, turning a small scratch into an ugly open sore"
"I bought this for my 1 year old German Shepherd mix after he was neutered. This collar simply does not work for long, tall, long faced dogs. My dog is totally able to lick & bite at his stitches while wearing this."
"My dog does not have a particularly long muzzle though and his stitches were on his belly so I could see it not working for a foot wound or something."
I could find nothing on doggy door use, as I do not have one I am unsure

Question

Will this collar work well for cats also?

My cat has a nasty wound on his left side almost all the way back to his tail. We have been treating it and it had been improving but he keeps licking it and this morning it looks like raw meat. I can't get him into the vet till Monday so I want to put a collar on him and put some antibiotic cream on it. I also am giving him Benadryl to keep him calm because this is starting to drive him crazy. Does anyone have any other suggestions till I can get him to the vet? Thanks!

This would definitely work for your cat's back injury! My dog is 5.6lbs and is flexible like a cat. The product restricts the movement to his back. If you would prefer to eliminate almost all neck movement put the protective collar on backwards so the velcro closure (size label) is on the back not by his/her neck. This would ensure the animal will not be able to reach the backside but is still comfortable. My vet approved the collar and said it is very neat!

Morgan, since it's been a couple weeks since his inquiry, you may have a cone on him now, but I'm can guarantee he'll be much more comfortable with the collar. We had a cone on our cat for one night and none of us got any sleep as he never stopped scrapping it against everything to try and get it off. The next day I got the ProCollar and he hasn't tried to dislodge it once. It attaches to their regular collar so it stays in place, it doesn't block their vision and let's them eat and drink with no problem. The only thing he can lick with this on is his front paws. I wouldn't hesitate to get the ProCollar for your cat.

No, but you might want to try to contact the company to see if it is covered under warranty. It probably won't be since it is not a manufacturer defect, but there is no harm in trying.

Question

How do i measure for this item?

I was looking to buy the ProCollar Premium Inflatable Protective Collar, but i am not sure what size to buy.
Do i just measure arround the neck of my cat and whatever measurement, is the mesurement for the size i have to buy.
If my cat is 7 inch arround her neck, then i would have to get a size small (6 to 10 Inch)?

Kind regards
