Depending on the age of your Siberian Husky, Blue Buffalo is the best. Change over slowly from other brands as it has better nutrients and may cause a bout of intestinal problems. If he is over 6 months of age, I would recommend adult to start strengthening his bones

I have a husky and I read somewhere that they are prone to being allergic to soy. I was having a lot of issues with my dog so I switched him to Blue Buffalo and we haven't had any problems since. I keep him on the chicken formula and that seems to treat him well. I highly recommend this brand of dog food, but as with anything, you just have to see what works best for your dog. He may react negatively to the brand.

Yes Blue Buffalo is made for high energy dogs. I own a Siberian Husky. She is very active. I feed her Blue Buffalo for several months, but she would not eat the small black pro-biotic pieces. I ended up going with Purina Pro Plan Shredded Bits. This food has both hard and soft pieces. Siberian Huskies are natural predators and tend to like the soft meaty bites. It also contains high protein and seems to help feed her energy and high maintenance. Good Luck to you.

Depending on what kind of dog and size of dog. If your dog is going to be small to medium, then change over to adult around 12 months. If your dog is going to be large, then change over at 6 months to adult.

The larger your dog is, the longer he should stay on puppy food to help his developing body. If your dog is small he/she could start on adult food now. If medium size I would recommend puppy food until a year. Your vet can also give you suggestions.

dogs should typically stay on puppy food until they are fully matured. small breeds tend to mature faster than large breeds and should be switched to an adult formula when they reach 1 year of age. Large breeds, however, take longer to mature and shouldn't be switched to an adult formula until they are 1 and a half years to 2 years of age.

hope that helps (:

puppies need a little time to adjust to new foods. blue is very rich in nutrients that puppies need. just be patient. if you went from a low end dog food to blue buffalo, it may take some time for their bodies to adjust. Also puppies are notorious for soft stools. Make sure your puppy does not have any other problems, worms etc. That causes soft stools. It may not be worms in their stool but the ones that live in their intestines. Very common but something you should check before giving up on the food. They also have puppy food for dogs that have allergies or sensitive stomachs. Blue carries one for that as well.

If you add Purina's FortiFlora to the pups food for a few weeks (buy from vet) you should see that problem improve immensely. The food is very rich in all kinds of nutrients good for the pups, and depending on what the mother was fed will give you a clue to why the pups are having adverse reactions.

The Blue Buffalo Lamb and Rice puppy formula is a healthy and high energy dog food. It is packed with nutrients that help your puppy to grow into a strong and smart dog. It also helps to maintain shine in both long and short hair dogs. My dog is over 3 years old and I still feed him the puppy fomula. It is important to still give your puppy vitamin suppliments along with its food though. The high protien in Blue Buffalo helps the pit bull to build its muscle which is an important part of its unique frame.

answer 2
To avoid the loose stools when transitioning foods, it should take about 10 days.
first 1-3 days feed 25% of the new food with 75% of the old food
the next 4-6 days feed 50% of the new food and 50% of the old food
the next 7-10 days feel 75% of the new food with 25% of the old food.
after the 10th day you should be okay to give the new food completely.

if at any point you notice an upset stomach add a little more of the old food with the new food. this will make the transition last a little longer, but it will help your puppy's belly.

I was a nutrition advisor at petco and customer advisor. i have had hundreds of successful transitions and conversions to natural food.

I have a maltipoo, not a bichon, but I've been very happy with the ProPlan small breed dry chow. It has no wheat or beet product and his tear staining seems greatly diminished since he's been on this chow which may be a help with your bichon. He tends to be picky but I've tried at least a dozen other dry chows and he likes this one best and it's a small easy to eat kibble. Also try the Merrick canned foods; they aren't cheap but very good quality and I use just about a third of a can a day with the dry kibble. Enjoy your pup!

I would say a half to one cup a day each, you should feed them 2 times a day, at 1 - 1.5 cups a day. There weight will be good, and they will be healthy. I feed my Golden Retriever 1 - 1.5 Cups 2 times a day.

Try it both ways. Some dogs have a preference and you won't know until you give both options a try. I give it to my dachshund dry in the AM and moistened with a little water and some Blue Buffalo canned food in the PM. My dog gets the small-breed formula and prefers the smaller kibble. I freeze the canned food in ice-cube trays then pop those cubes in a freezer bag. I defrost one cube each day to mix in with the kibble for his evening meal.

Dog food has an expiration date set on each bag. If you have it placed in a sealed container, I don't see the harm in getting at least a 15-30lb bag.

And yes, bags on the shelf are sealed, but there are only a few brands that vacuum seal their food. The rest of the dog food on the shelf is just glued closed, so transferring it to an airtight container should help keep it until it's expiration date.

You split that into three. :) So you would feed a cup in the morning, maybe 1/4 to 1 cup in the afternoon, and then 1 cup at night.

You also can solely feed two meals a day (most common) or even one large meal a day. Though for puppies, splitting into two servings can help digestion and growth.

Pro plan is the highest quality food Purina makes. It is good for all breeds. I have an English Bully and he is growing up on it. Start with the puppy food, dry, and at a year old go to adult. I do not feed can or soft food to any of my dogs. As a treat, once in awhile is ok but as a day to day food, I stick with dry because it the best for their teeth. There are several flavors Pro plan offers. My kids like them all.
Also, Bullys have a tendency to "gobble" their food within seconds. I suggest you get a feeding bowl made for such eaters. They have sections within the bowl that separates the dish and makes eating take longer. They are in all pet stores and don' t cost more then a good regular bowl.
If this is your first Bull Dog, you are going to have a love affair with this breed. The are funny, loyal and lazy, if you don't exercise them. Caution though, they burp, slobber a lot and have gas. Good luck I hope this was informative for you.
