Aint Walnuts Bad For Birds

I have read around and have heard that walnut as a bird litter if eaten can cause inflame and irritate organs, causing internal damage, bleeding and I know your think oh they aint goin to eat it.wrong birds are curious kinda like babies what they can get in their gob they are going to my question is what I have read is it true?
