Labs are notorious for having allergies. I would look into foods that are grain free (no rice, barley etc.) AND I would look for other protein sources in the food (other than regular beef and chicken). You would be surprised by how many dogs are allergic to beef and chicken. You have quite a few options.
If you would like to look into dehydrated food, you can try:
Grandma Lucy's Artisan Lamb Grain-Free (SKU: 1250922)
Grandma Lucy's Artisan Venison Grain-Free (SKU: 1299280)
Only Natural Pet EasyRaw Dehydrated Grain-Free Turkey & Sweet Potato (SKU: 1302701)
If you would rather stick with dry and canned food, any of the following would be a wise choice:
Canned:
Dogswell Happy Hips Stew Lamb & Sweet Potato (SKU: 1292340)
Dogswell Happy Hips Stew Duck & Sweet Potato (SKU: 1292358)
Merrick Gourmet Entrée Thanksgiving Day Dinner (SKU: 366498)
Merrick Gourmet Entrée Thanksgiving Day Dinner (SKU: 366498)
Merrick Before Grain 96% Buffalo Grain-Free (SKU: 366668)
Wellness Turkey & Duck Stew (SKU: 334324)
Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Diets Bison & Sweet Potato (SKU: 363103)
Dry:
Natural Balance L.I.D. Sweet Potato & Bison (SKU: 1307800)
Natural Balance L.I.D. Sweet Potato & Venison (SKU: 1133039)
Natural Balance L.I.D. Sweet Potato & Fish (SKU: 996858)
In addition to changing the food, you could also look into a supplement that contains omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA, something like salmon oil, or cod liver oil. Not only do they support a healthy skin and coat, as well as reduce shedding, but they help maintain joint, heart, neurological and cellular health. There are a few products you can look into, just DON’T use them all at the same time:
Wild Alaskan Salmon Oil (SKU: 1020803)
PETCO Salmon Oil for Dogs (SKU: 1139088)
PETCO Omega 3 Gel Caps (SKU: 1095382)
The Only Natural Pet line manufactures products as well, however, I don't believe that Petco carries those. One is "Only Natural Pet Pure Salmon Oil" and the other is "Only Natural Pet Pure Icelandic Cod Liver Oil".
Good luck!

It add depends on the quality of food you feed your dog. Dogs shed their coat seasonally and this cannot be helped but feeding a high quality food with the least amount of grains possible with go a long way to improving their coat quality and overall health. It also helps to brush regularly with an appropriate brush will go a long way to help remove the dead hair and keep it from flying out all over your home, consider a shed blade, undercoat rake, slicker brush, or rubber grooming brush depending on your dogs coat. Sometimes a dog will even let you vacuum them using the hose attachment, I've even heard of grooming attachments for some vacuum cleaners. Hope this helps

My chocolate lab is almost 10 months and weighs in around 95 pounds. I have been feeding him this since I got him at 8 weeks. His coat is beautiful and as long as you feed him the correct amounts for his size and he gets some exercise weight shouldn't be a problem.
Good luck in finding a food that helps with lab shedding!!
