I don't see why not. As long as you don't dump a whole lot in there, you should be fine. Also if it's a small (er) tank, I would just get a plecostomus.

Question

So this solution will not hurt my aquatic plants?

My tank is pretty full with plants and would hate to have to start all over, having problem with brown hairy like alge. I even bought one of those live moss plants hoping that would work, but to no advail, my tank is a 56 gal.
