Question

Sturdy?

How sturdy are these steps? Does the base shift easily as a dog climbs up? I have a Min Pin and she now needs steps for medical reasons. She will freak out if as she is climbing, the whole structure moves at all. Please share any and all experiences with this! Thank you so much

I find that the unit is quite sturdy, moreso than the original "Doggy Steps" that used to be advertised on TV. My 7.5 lb. mutt and 12 lb. Westie pup (6 mos. old) get up them just fine without it rocking at all.

My biggest cats are 12 lbs. each and the steps don't move when they climb up. I'm about 200 and I can sit on the third step and pet my cats while they're playing on the floor, so they're really strong. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Question

Size of dog...

What small dog weighs up to 120 lbs? Would this be okay for a "lab-mix" who weighs just at 100? Is it listed as for small dogs only because of the step-size? Looking for something I can handle to assist him in getting in/out of my Ford Escape.

Thanks and looking forward to a "positive" answer.....one that says - "go ahead, this will work for you." Attaching a pic of my lab mix (Humphrey) along with his best friend terrier-mix (Bogart) so that you can consider my size(s) dilema :)

These steps are very sturdy, but their size is very small, only about 6" deep and high per step. They're also only about 24" high, so I don't know if they would reach the back of an Escape. So, no, I don't think they would be good for a larger dog. Sorry.

answer 2
It is the size of the steps that will be the problem, they will be way too small for a 100lb dog and also the weight of a dog running up and down the steps is too much for the lightweight of the stairs, they will move around like crazy. Sorry, these steps will not work for your dog.

No, I bought them for my 4 pound chihuahua maltese mix and I didn't even trust him on these. They are very light and I don't think they could support a 120 pound dog.

I would try the pet stairs by Petstairz. That is what I had to go with after I returned these.
