Sounds like my cat (she is 15 lbs and very barrel-chested). Hhere is the problem: your cat more than likely will not fit into any cat harness which goes up to 18" (size L at Petco). However, I have found harness which go up to 20"; Lupine is one such brand. Don't bother going into the dog section looking for a larger harness since these are made for dogs and the harnesses are to wide (should be 1/2" wide) and too thick; much too cumbersome for a delicate cat. I don't know why Petco doesn't sell a larger harness for cats. I'm pretty sure we are not the only 2 people with large cats which like to go for a stroll. Good luck!

You can do as I did. Get a measuring tape and see his perimeter right below his shoulder, as it's on the picture. Then you chose the size that fits. If it still does not fit, I think you could buy another harness and just use the bungee leash.
