I have 3 cats, they all are in the 7-10lbs range, so I just distribute it to each one (one tab each). However, when they were younger (weighed less than 5lbs), I'd give them half a tab each. If you only have one kitty, depending on the weight, dose accordingly and I think that it lasts about a month. If your cat is outdoor, you might have to treat him or her more often, but I'm not sure about the time frame for the next dosage. But I think that's why there's more than one tab in the bottle.

It turns out the card, which the bottle of pills is attached to, is doubled and taped together. If you undo the tape and unfold the card, instructions are on the back, including a weight chart mentioned by another customer below.
Example:
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION: Administer to cats and kittens* only as follows:
4 pounds and under.........................1/2 tablet
5-11 pounds...................................... 1 tablet
Over 11 pounds................................1 and 1/2 tablets
*Not intended for use in kittens less than 6 weeks of age.

Worming Schedule for Puppies, Kittens, Cats & Dogs
Parasites don't want to kill your kitten or puppy; they just want to use them as a dinner plate! Our goal is to prevent that from happening. Intestinal parasites have been around forever and are not going away, but you can control them with the proper deworming schedule! Hookworms and roundworms are by far the most common intestinal worms found in puppies and kittens. Roundworms compete with your pet for food and hookworms live on blood causing anemia.

Rough hair coats, diarrhea, malnutrition progressing to intestinal obstruction, and anemia are common issues with worms! We want to feed our pets - not the parasites. That is why we deworm. Don't wait until you are sure your pet has parasites – they have already caused damage at this point.

Strategic Deworming Guidelines:
Strategic deworming is a practice recommended by the American Association of Veterinary Parasitologists (AAVP) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Puppies & Kittens:
This growth phase of their life is when they are most susceptible!
•Deworm at 2, 4, 6, & 8 weeks of age, then again at 12 & 16 weeks of age.
•You can then move to 6 months and 1 year, then deworm as an adult.

Adult Dogs and Cats:
We are recommending the standard here. If your pet is a big hunter they will need more frequent deworming - you must assess the risk for your pet.
•General Dog or Cat: Twice a year for life. ◦Dogs put everything in their mouth and need twice a year deworming to eliminate the parasites they will pick up. Outside cats twice a year for the same reason.

•Cats that are strictly inside animals: Deworm once a year.
•Cats that like to hunt: 3 times a year may be necessary.

Newly Acquired Animals:
No matter what the history or age, assume they have parasites!
•Deworm immediately and repeat in 2 weeks.
•Put on the above adult program.

May We Suggest:
•Round and Hookworms ◦Lambert Kay® Evict® Liquid Wormer
◦Pfizer Nemex®

•Roundworms, Hookworms, Whipworms & Tapeworms from rodents ◦Panacur® C Canine Dewormer

Tapeworms ◦Trade Winds® Tape Worm Tabs®
•Tapeworm, Roundworm & Hookworms ◦Drontal® for Cats
◦Sentry® WormXPlus™

I just looked this up online this morning because I noticed that my poly dactyl cat passed a segment when I scooped the litter box. I went to Petco and bought it because I didn't want to wait even if it did cost more. The directions on the box say cats 4 lbs and under a half a pill. Cats 5-11 lbs 1 pill and cats over 11 lbs 1 and a half pills.

I assumed it worked quickly because my particular cat was very bloated looking and by night time, I could notice a difference. I kept cleaning litter box that day and the next day put fresh litter in both pans to be on the safe side. I also clean their bedding, just in case worms dropped.

Treated my four cats twice to make sure they were worm free. The litter box should be completely cleaned and sanitized the same day that the cat is treated. I cleaned mine with scrubbing bobbles bathroom cleaner and hot water before adding new cat litter. Use a flea control too. The cats get the worms from fleas.

My Vet told me that the best way is to observe the little pieces that come out. They may or may not observe the tapeworms in a stool sample unless it's a bad infestation. I have indoor cats that seem to pick up fleas and then I notice the little pieces on bedding. They have me give just one pill, but they charge me a lot for that one pill.

I dont know how often you could retreat your cat with this medication, but I do know how you would know. If you see the signs that your cat has worms again( seeing the white rice like segments on thier butt or in feces). If you see no signs but still arent sure if any new ones have moved in call a vet, ask some qestions and see what they say.

This drug has no residual effect, it will clean out the tapeworms and that's it. Just repeat dosage when you see what looks like rice in your cats stool or around his backside area. It is not meant to be constantly given to your cat as a preventive measure.

I don't think there is, but this drug is great. You can make it a liquid. I do it all the time. Just crush 1 pill at a time add a few drops of water at a time to make a watery mixture. Pick up a medium size syringe at the drug store. Fill it with the mixture, sit your cat upright( if you can get someone else to help) tilt his head back and squirt the mixture down his throat. Make sure you put the syringe far enough back in his mouth. Use 1 tab per cat up to 10 lbs.

Yes, it says that the pills can be crushed and put into food but you have to make sure that your kittens eat all of it if you take that route because if not then it won't work correctly. Also, the pills should be easy to crush because they are pretty chalky to begin with.

I have mixed these pills in water and directly inserted them into my kitty's mouth. Just purchase a syringe at a drug store. Medium size. Grind the pills up and mix a few drops of water only until you get a watery consistency. Mix one pill at a time. Take the syringe and pull the plunger out. Hold your finger over the bottom hole and pour the mixture into the syringe. Slowly replace the plunger and let out any air. Hold the syringe upward, so the hole is up. If you have more mixture left you will have to repeat the process. Hold your kitty upright, grab his scruff to hold him tight, tilt his head back, open his mouth and squirt the mixture into his mouth. You should get someone to help you hold your kitty. Make sure you place the syringe far enough back in his mouth. Good luck.

The tape worm meds should work in one day so if you have not yet given the flea meds wait one day, but if you have already used a topical flea treatment you should have no problem giving the tape worm meds to your kitten IF he is healthy. A healthy kitten should be fine but watch him for any reaction the first time you give him ANY medication. I once had an adult cat that had a severe reaction to a new topical flea medication and I called the 800 # on the package and they said wash it off right away! So watch your kitten for any reaction with a new medicine just to be safe.

If the cats are indoors, more than likely they use the same litter box. If one is infested, they will all become infested. Cats have a disgusting habit of grooming each others' hind parts which allows critters to spread from one cat to another, therefore the probability cannot be omitted for outdoor only cats, or inside/outside cats that do not require a litter box.

I find that if one has tape worms the others might soon have them too. But not always. You would only give the pill to the cat that visibly has tape worms by his butt or on his bedding- be sure he is infected before you treat him. Do not give the medicine to a cat that does not show positive signs of tape worm infestation. I have 4 cats but I only treat one if I am positive it has tape worms. Always clean the bedding to remove tape worm segments that can be ingested to re-infect. Clean all areas where the cat may have sat or laid for awhile to avoid re-infection.

unfortunatley yes they come out whenever they want and on everything your cat has been laying on. I put my cat in a certain room with her bed until I received the medicine because Petco did not have it in the store and I also researched Tapeworm and we as humans we too can catch them not likely unless we put our fingers in our mouth after doing the litter box and it is most common in kids to catch it before adults so just be careful cure your cats as soon as possible
