This should be fine, although you should not leave them unsupervised as a safety precaution. The pen is actually pretty heavy, so they should not be able to get under it. As for over, the bars are straight, making it extremely difficult to climb. As for through it, no, they should not be able to slip through.

The bars are spaced so that full grown rats will not be able to escape. We have 2 adult rats with this cage and have had no problems with escape attempts. there's a door on each level, and a door on top also..all of the doors are very safely secured to prevent escape, the bottom of the cage is solid plastic so no escapes there either.

This is a HUGE cage, I think you'll like it!

It depends on the cage. If the cage is wire then it can be rigged. I have been using one for my two floor cage as a rabbit run. What I did was use the small clip caribenars (sp?) to connect the unit to the cage and have it open so they have more room. I plan on buying more for a second hutch that is the same height. I will try to post pics.

Although the photo shows ferrets, I use this for chinchillas. This is definitely safe for guinea pigs also.

I have two guinea pigs and put both of them in it. They love running around and it gives them the exercise they need and I also put chew toys in the pen so that they have fun chewing things too.

I wouldn't recommend it if you have dogs around the cage because it can easily be moved if you bump into it, but the rabbit itself can't get out of the cage.

Question

Is this cage ok for a dog? (Havanese)

I really like how you can buy a floor mat that will fit it perfectly, but this is meant for a small animal. Will it be ok for a Havanese? What about a 5 week old puppy? Are there any other cages that are meant for dogs that have a floor mat that will fit?

Question

Can a section be opened easily by a person to allow the pet to get out?

My small breed dog hates a carrier. This looks like a great alternative, but my brother would need to open a section several times a day to take her for a walk.
