they are located on the bottom back. If you look at the chihuahua in the pictures, it would be located where his back feet are.

answer 3
We tested it with out mini schnauzer puppy who is 14" tall and growing - it will fit him as an adult and he is on the large size of mini schnauzer. Measure your dogs head height and nose length. The interior is 18" high and about 8" deep at the top (before the curve starts). The base is much large and will fit most dogs, but the head area is what is important. The dog will sit up in it and should be able to turn its face comfortably.

Question

I need a very light weight pet carrier that is approved for airlines.

Can you name a few. I keep looking, but I either can't tell how much they weight or if they are airline approved. I know all Airlines have different standards, but I do know that some carriers get their approval as well.

the snoozer this is not lightest, but it can be carried more ways andthe medium fits. The lightest by far is the sturdibag (medium and large work on all airlines, but you MUST get black or they will question the bag and may say no way). The large sherpa is next best and it fits under all seats, BUT again airlines say it does not fit - so get black! I have flown 10 different planes of all sizes and 5 airlines with the large black sherpa bag with no questions asked.

I bought the large for a 22lb lhaso, she fit but was uncomfortable and unable to re-position herself. For a 15lb dog, I would think the medium might be ok.

There is a side pocket that you can store it in. Also, there are probably plenty of places you could loop it through.

It might be a bit cumbersome. the large Snoozer isn't very heavy but the design is not sleek and could make for a lot more effort than you want. I wish the Snoozer had better wheels to be able to endure uneven surfaces for pulling the pet.
