Hi pumpkin22,
I would say that if you are looking for a heat source for your hermit crabs this would not be the set to go with as this is just meant to illuminate the cage in the day and night...just add a little boost for them. For the most part it is just so you can see them and they can see a little better in the dark. I am going to be using this for my Crested Gecko as they have a pretty natural temp requirement, above 70 and below 82 degrees (room temp). I hope this helps you out a little.

also have a crested getko does he need a day lamp? doesnt seem to be eating much but tail is still ok.
