Yes - The Pet Tag Adjustable No Bark Collar - The red one is for small dogs. Put it on my miniture dashound - it worked instantly when nothing else ever did. I highly recommend this product to you. After 5 yrs. of trying to quiet him - (he barked at birds in the yard - when the wind blows- he barked) This collar worked. It's just a vibration or you can put it on the beep sound. Try It!!! you'll love the silence. Deb, FL

I bought this for my chihuahua mix. It works great. We only use when we are expecting company, but it really keeps her barking to a minimum. The sonic setting doesn't work, but the vibrate one does. I tried it on myself and it doesn't hurt at all. Feels just like a cell phone vibration. It startles the dog and lets her know that the barking is unacceptable behavior.

I highly recommend the Pettags Proline small no bark collar. It has a snap buckle, which is easier to use. This collar doesn't use shock, so it is more humane for smaller dogs. I have a 9# dog that would bark non-stop when I put him out to potty. Now he hardly barks at all. It worked immediately.

Question

I have 2 dogs. Does this collar "sense" the bark through noise, or the vibration of the dog's throat? Will both receive the correction if one barks?

answer 1
YES!!! Although it senses the bark through the vibration of the dog's throat, my experience with my miniature pinscher dog, shows that it will also vibrate if other dogs barks, when I close my car's door (when i'm taking my dog to the park) and if my miniature schnauzer bark as well. Therefore, I have conlclude that it will sense high pitch noises, barks from other dogs, and doors slamming.

But it works so well..., so my advice is to use it only when you're walking one dog, or buy a collar for all the dogs that have a barking problem.

I use collar on my miniature pinscher and it works like a charm!, but your dog is pretty big, so I don't know if it will deter him from barking that much. I use it on high (vibration) and sometimes he does bark anyway, but once or twice and that's it.

The collar has 2 setting vibration and sound, and both come with a low and high level.

I do not recommend the collars that have an "static vibration" which is in reality just an electric discharge (just like the those once might get when walking on the carpet and and then touching someone, although is like 10 times stronger)

Those special small, round ones that you see around hearing aid batteries. I can't give you the number because I've noticed different companies use different numbers. This little device uses a lot of juice, so be sure to turn the unit off when not in use!

I can't give advice specifically on this size but I can say that the large was recommended for a 30 pound dog and I got it for our Boston Terrier (28 pounds) and there was enough strap left over for a whole other collar. For a 4 pound dog I would say get the smallest available and it is adjustable so make it as small as possible and cut off the excess.

I don't think a specific bark collar would work as they are triggered by the vibrations of the barking in the vocal cords, you would probably have to get a training collar that shocks him when you trigger it. We had the same issue with my Dad's lab puppy many years ago at first. My mom (a veterinarian) just taught us to yell "oww" really high pitched when it would bite us just like another dog would if he bit too hard. It didn't take long before he quit. If the behavior is really ingrained, you may have to convince him you are a dominant dog, not another puppy to play rough with. We would flip him over on his back, with our hands on his chest where he couldn't bite us and growl at him. You'd have to hold him until he quits fighting and accepts that you are the boss. It's a lot more humane than shocking him. Then refocus his attention on a toy that he can bite and play with.

I think that you could. I use it mainly when I'm walking my dog, because he is very antisocial. Since using it, my dog is not barking to people, nor other dogs, because when he does, he get a vibration, just like a phone vibrating. No shocks or anything painful.

So I guess you could put that on your dog when is chained outside, although I do not recommend you using it when is raining, because the mechanism might get wet and stop working.
