Questions & Answers for ASL ASL Solutions Dog Palace

Question

Does the roof slide on and off?

I'm looking at this for housing a duck and will need human access to the inside. I checked out the instructions; but nothing alludes to easy access to the interior. This product is not in the stores so I can't check it out with my own eyes. Could a current owner try to explain it to me. One of the reviews had a guy huddled in it with his dog so he had to get in somehow.

The roof slides on during assembly, but then the front is installed and screwed on, so I would say that the roof is not removable. You would have to remove the front first.

answer 2
No. There are 4 long screws holding it on, but they would not be hard to remove for cleaning.....you just might have to put the whole dog house back together when you put it back on, unless the screws in the floor hold it together. At least it's easy to put together.

answer 3
The roof only slides off if you remove the front panel. Not terribly labor intensive to do (you have to unscrew some screws) but the front panel is what ties it all together so you can't just slide the roof off without removing that. I could crawl inside through the door...

answer 4
No it is held together with screws. The roof ties the whole house together but it has a drain hole in the bottom and can be washed out.

Well, naturally, that depends upon the size and compatibility of your cats. I would think four very friendly cats could manage well.

several, not sure if they would take to it but if they did this would be a nice warm shelter, you could also prop the door until they got used to it or put yummy food in there that they could smell

answer 3
That would depend on the cats' size and territory requirements. If you are considering your pets, they will share, probably not at the same time, but if they get along well, they will snuggle together inside. And Hay is an awesome warm filler for strays and ferals. I cannot believe that more people do not use hay for their dog houses in the winter months, outdoors. But the heated pads, igloo and the Lesco Barn pads are awesome, they fit the dog houses, have wrapped cords to stop chewing, and keep the pets, and ferals warm. As for feral cats in a closed door doghouse, not recommended. Use a Doghouse that has the clear plastic doors or make them, so the ferals can see who is coming, they are very territorial, and will love the warmth, but may fight over the enclosure. A couple may choose to get along, and yes your pet cats can be trained to use a dog house door or pet flap, just takes patience!

Yes, there is plenty of room inside this dog house. Its almost 44" long inside and 28" wide inside. Plenty of height, and a fairly good-sized swinging door.

Maybe....probably. But you can pad the entrance on both the outside and the inside to make it easier for them. I use a few layers of old carpet on the inside and another on the outside, like a door mat. For dogs that small, if it gets very cold where you are, be sure to get the floor heater for them. I also add a sheepskin (wool on) for them to cuddle in.
