Questions & Answers for Natural Balance Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Diets Green Pea & Chicken Formula Dry Cat Food

Question

Cats & diets for kidney disease

My 15 yr old cat has kidney disease and was prescribed a low protein diet by our vet. I have been feeding him the Natural Balance Green Pea and Chicken dry food for a while, and sometimes buy the prescribed food from our vet. Is the NB low enough in protein or is there a better choice?

My vet said this would be a great food for my cats early stages of kidney disease. It is hard finding a food with a protien level below 30%. Majority of calories should be coming from canned food as well.

You should try Soulistic Autumn Bounty Chicken Dinner in Pumpkin Soup Adult Cat Food Pouches, along with other pouch varieties (green, red, blue) that have the right levels of phosphorus, magnesium, protein and sodium---plus the moisture they need to be healthy. This is the BEST food quality, I've found, for my cat's kidney issues. And your cat should be eating wet food primarily anyway, especially with a kidney issue. Check out my review for details. Fair warning that it is pricey--but you are likely used to that with NB anyway. Most importantly, try it out and see what your cat thinks! Good luck...

Question

Does this food contain any phenols, tannins, or thiols? My cat has pemphigus and its a possibility it was induced by these food types. Thanks.
