Question

Can I use a ceramic heater for my hedgehog?

Hello! I am purchasing a hedgehog and need to keep the temperature around 73-78 degrees, according to the breeder. They suggested a ceramic reptile heater, but I wanted to make sure.

Thank you for your question Anonymous. It is actually safer to use a ceramic heat emitter than to use standard incandescent heat bulbs. You just want to make sure that the hedgehog cannot make contact or get too close to the heat emitter.

you are not supposed to put this onto the heat source directly... u put it onto the substrate surface because that is where the reptile will be and that is where you want the temp for it to be most accurate and able to monitor the reptile that way.
