Yes. There are no straps to fit over the back legs to pull this down over those parts of a dog.

Yes, it a top coat with a strap around their chest/tummy area to hold it in place. They can do everything they need to with the coat on.

In answering this question, I have no idea what product you are talking about, but all shirts, sweaters (even the ones with back feet), jackets, vests, etc all have it so the dog can "relieve" themselves. I have never encountered a dog product that does not have that option.

How durable is this fabric? I am worried my dog will chew through it.

He has allergies and has been scratching and biting himself a lot - I am thinking this might be a good way to "wrap him up" to protect him from his own scratching? I already have the Comfy Cone and it works, but doesn't stop him from scratching himself.

This is the nicest weight dog sweater I've ever found, which is why I was disappointed that it ran so small. Dogs, unfortunately, can chew through anything if they want to, but this is a heavier weight than most. I hope this helps.

This would be good - but probably hot and uncomfortable. Have you tired full body pajamas? Also - change his diet to all raw food (available at Petco stores) this will probably alleviate a lot of the allergy symptoms as dogs are mostly allergic to grains in dog food.

Try the vet again. Have allergy identified. So many factors could apply. Better to alleviate or stop the reaction than to allow the dog to continue to suffer the itch by only preventing him/her from trying to relieve it him/herself.

Can someone who's purchased this item provide advice on sizing?

I have an Italian Greyhound/Chi mix whose girth is 15" and length is 14" plus a Heinz 57 mixed breed whose girth is 19" and length is 17". All of these measurements fall between sizes. Do you recommend I buy based on girth or length? Also, are these jackets sized larger or smaller than the listed measurements? Thanks in advance.

Based on my experience (ordered a Medium for a 17 lb mini schnauzer mix), Her girth is is 15", and her length is slightly longer than 16". There is no stretch around the bottom edge of the sweater, and the Medium barely cleared her rib cage. I also went with girth vs length. IF I reorder it for her, I will probably go with an XL for her, and I don't think they sell a larger size than that, This should be described as a sweater for small dogs only. It's a really nice weight, which is difficult to find for dogs.

I have 2 dogs both 18' girth and one is 18 long and the other is 16 long. The size 16 fits them both well with room enough around the girth to also include a thin sweater or shirt. One is about and inch taller than the other. I would go with the girth size as they seem longer than what the 16 says the length is - which is 15-16 but my dogs are both longer than that slightly and it fits them to the end perfectly.

I would go with the smaller size 12" for the Italian Greyhound. I would go with the 15 or 16" for the Heinz. Go smaller for sure.

This sweater runs small and has no stretch around the bottom edge. It should fit you mini yorkie well if your dog doesn't have too much fur around her middle. The lack of give around the edge made it difficult for me to even get it over my 17 lb mini schnauzer mix's rib cage in a size Medium. Once on, I almost couldn't get it off. I hope this helps.

I think a size 8 would fit your 3 pound yorkie because I had to buy the next size up for my 11 pound Shih Tzu and it is even a little snug on her.
I originally purchased the size 8 for her and it was way too small.

My dog is a mini schnauzer/lhassa apso cross. The medium was WAY too small for her. I just posted a review as "PALT". IF I reorder it for her, I'm guessing an extra large might be the best fit for her, unless the first one I ordered was an anomaly. There is no stretch around the bottom edge, and the medium barely cleared her tummy. She weighs 17 lbs, and, per her vet, is the perfect weight for her.
