The crate shipped to us folded flat. I wouldn't say it'd be an easy fold as far as traveling goes, but it does fold down. It's also quite heavy

Nope, but you could disassemble and reassemble it. I guess it would take 10 minutes on each side.

answer 6
Technically, yes because all you have to do is disassemble in reverse order, mainly by removing the 4 lock "pins" that bind it together at the corners. However, we knew that we weren't going to use this for travel purposes because it is really VERY heavy and will take up more room in our SUV than is practically available. We wouldn't recommend it for travel use due to size and weight considerations.

No. You can take it apart, but there is no "folding" going on. It's too big to move through a door put together (37" is 1" too wide for the standard 36" door of a house).

The crate is 54"L x 37"W x 45"H (137 x 94 x 114 cm). Our Great Dane, Hamlet is 8 months old, 33" tall at the withers, and weighs about 110 pounds. He has plenty of room to stand up fully and turn around.

answer 3
If you are looking for a massive dog crate you found it. It is 54L, 35W & 45H. This crate is so large that unless you have ample spare room for it, it may not fit in a furnished room. However, the double doors allows a few different options for placement. The cage once setup is extremely strong and well made.
I would recommend this crate to a friend, but, I did have a few issues with it upon delivery.
1. The crate is so large and heavy it doesn’t ship well. Expect to do some part straitening – because of the weight of the frame the corners were bent as well as the main door.
2. The cardboard shipping box is very large, bulky and heavy – you will probably need two people to lift the shipping box.
3. You will need 2 people to assemble it
4. Unless you have double entrance doors going into your house, you will have to assemble the crate where you are planning on placing it (on site). You won’t be able to assemble it in the garage or outside and then walk it into the house with it due to its utter size.
5. You won’t find a dog mat that will fit the tray – at least I haven’t yet.

Fully assembled with the tray in the bottom. Height is 44 inches. Width is 3 ft and depth is 54 inches. There are 2 doors one on the 3 ft side and one on the 54 inch side. These are measured from the inside of the crate NOT the outside

answer 2
Most of the spacing is 1.5" X 5". The exceptions are along the bottom of the crate where it's 1.5" X 2.5" so allow for the side panes to properly attached and to hold the pan in place. In addition to the bottom of the panels, the side door panel top has the small spacing at the top.

Question

Would this product be too big for my cane corso?

I have a male can corso who is about 115lbs and i suspect he'll fill out some more but is at his maximum height he is 19 months old. I feel like the largest crates will be a bit snug for him he's already trained so he doesnt need to be in a super small area but also dont want something that is taking up way too much unnecessary space . I do have an entire room for his crate and also for my other dogs so its not a problem if this is the only thing that will fit him comfortably

Our first English Mastiff was about 125 pounds~ He was tall like a great dane but never really filled out like a mastiff due to health issues. This crate was a great size for him~ it was not too big. We were thankful to have a crate this size actually out there for us to get for him. I hope that helps (if not long overdue!).

answer 2
In general the 54" crate will hold a dog that weighs anywhere from 111 - 200 lbs. However, you also want to take into consideration the height and the turning radius of the dog. The 54" crate is 45"H and 37"W. The crate size down from the 54" is the 48" which recommended for a dog that is 91 - 110 lbs. The 48" crate is 30"W and anywhere from 33 - 35"H, depending on which crate you are looking at. From the picture of your dog, I would probably lean toward the 54". Especially considering that he will probably increase in girth around his chest as he gets older.

Question

Plastic pan for large dog crate model SL54DD available?

Hi,
I own a Midwest Metals large dog crate (model SL54DD). Unfortunately the plastic pan has several cracks in it. Do you have replacement pans available? The measurements are approximately 54 inches long x 37 inches wide.
Thanks for any help.

Most places that sell the crate also sell the pan separately. The pan is useless unless your dog actually pees in the crate. I wouldn't replace it. I know some other placese sell the pan (as does the manufacturer itself).

They make a "pad" for this crate; however, it's inadequate. I just went and got the largest orthopedic foam pad I could find that was 36" wide and 48" long. it works well enough and if you're worried about the extra space, I just put in a pillow that my dog used.
