My betta loves this, but if you have a filter with a strong current it might not be the best choice. If the fish is pushed by a current, the plants are definitely sharp enough to tear fins, and have given my veiltail's fins nicks and cuts on occasion just because he likes to be a jungle predator and hide in them. However, you have to keep in mind that the base of this ornament is not small. I doubt it would fit in most tanks smaller than five gallons, and know for a fact it doesn't fit in most 2.5 gallons. Get him a big tank and place this away from the filter current, and it'll work.

Yes, it's plants aren't to sharp and a betta would love to swim and out of it.

I think so. My beta seems to like swimming in and out of it all the time!

Bettas should have a minimum of 3 gallons....5 gallons is ideal. It's a myth that bettas love living in tiny spaces. Your betta will be much happier ina decent sized aquarium.
