It doesn't seem very insulated. It's just a plastic shell, and the door is very large. If you added a lot of bedding & bought or made a door for it, it might stay warm, but probably not so much in extreme cold.

The unit consists of nitrogen insulated foam similar as used in the automotive or aerospace industry. It is not insulation that is found in homes. Our units are sold in all 50 states as well as Canada and many International countries. We recommend that anytime temperatures are below freezing for many hours or days then the pets should be moved to some type of inside habitat. Each pets ability to withstand freezing temperatures will also depend further on their breed, age and health condition. Some pets have long fur while other have short. A long hair pet can usually withstand the temperature change better unless they are older or have health issues.
