The front portion where the entry hole is, is 7 inches from the floor.
It is very easy for the cats to go in, they don't seem to have a problem. A very small kitten, might have a probelm until it grows a little.

The step on this box is not very high -- just high enough to keep them kicking litter out. My 17 year old cat steps in with no trouble -- no need to jump, although with the recent addition of Cosequin to her diet she now can jump and run if she wishes!

It's exactly 7 inches from the floor to the bottom of the opening. And the opening is bigger than most.
My adult cats don't have any problems with that height. I wouldn't recommend this product for kittens, or other small animals.

6.5 inches. it is a big step but my kittens get right in and out...no problem. It does help on litter spills. I still get some litter spilled out but with 3 kittens, it could be a lot more if the entrance were lower.

It is higher than average but most all cats will adapt. Mine is just "slinky" enough that all he does is just stretches over the opening and the cover has plenty of height that the cat won't hit his head or shoulders getting in or out. Mine does tend to jump out of the box, but I think that is just to get ahead of the smell :)

No it does not. For cleaning you just unsnap the top a four points around the litterbox. It is oval shape. Remove the top. Sometimes I just reach in with the scoop and clean it that way, I don't always have to remove the top.

I considered this also before purchasing. No, there is no handle for lifting the top, but it's not heavy. It lifts very easily. Feels like lifting the top off a large cake carrier -- if I may use that analogy - just place hands on each side and lift. It's not that real heavy plastic you're probably thinking of. The top doesn't have to be that durable -- it's the bottom that will take the wear. You won't have a problem with this box! I remove my top 2 - 3 times a day to clean it (clear top let's me see if it's needed). If it were heavy, it would be a drag, but I enjoy doing it and the cats appreciate the cleanliness.

No. But it gets pretty heavy when litter is in box. I wouldn't carry it by a handle. Lid lifts off easily for cleaning. I really like this box for my 3 LARGE male ragdoll cats. Big enough for them to get in and turn around without getting smashed.

If you are scooping out your litter box at least twice a day, there should be no odor issues. I generally scoop out my boxes first thing in the morning, right before i go to bed, and if I'm home, any time after anyone has been in it.

A clean box makes for a happy home. :0)

Personally I do not think filters help with smell at all. I found no difference. These seem to do a better job than the filtered ones. I scoop out pans daily and use a good quality litter (non-scented). It's been my expereince if you mix a 'scented' litter with cat deposits the oder is intensified....stick with a good litter, add a little baking soda and you are good to go. These pans are easy for cats to use, easy for me to clean and there is no 'missing/overshoot' when cats use them

I was concerned about this also, since prior to this purchase I used an open top box (stupid me, putting up with all that litter scatter). Anyway, to counteract odor I always sprinkled a layer of baking soda into the litter. This cuts that harsh urine scent amaxingly. Now with the cover box, I do the same, in addition to keeping a spray bottle of bleach and water handy with a paper towel to wipe away any obvious urine drops clinging to the sides. Takes a few seconds, really. It's working really well. I had expected a blast of urine scent when removing the top for cleaning, but that's not a problem. There's no smell overcomin me or them! Just spritz the sides and top occasionally after cleaning.

answer 11
I personally think the odor control is good. I have owned many litter pans that have the 2 charcoal filters in the lids, and I never really thought the charcoal did anything at all. It just seemed for another place for the odors to escape into my home.
Since I've owned this big pan, I haven't noticed any odors! Maybe because I'm using more litter to fill it. More litter = more stuff to cover the excrement, therefore reducing odor.
My cats are not overcome by the smell or lack thereof.
I believe that the litter itself is to blame for bad odors. I recently bought a few cheaper litters, and came to the conclusion that the higher priced/premium litters work best for odors. (#1 for me = Fresh Step, #2=Scoop Away...)

I would say yes. I have four cats BUT I supply 6 boxes for them. Recommendations I've read are "one-box-per-cat-plus-one". With a couple extra boxes, it gives you a little lee-way if you get so busy or don't feel well and skip scooping one day.

I use only one Moderna Mega Comfy box for our three cats. I scoop daily... well, honestly I slack a lot and mostly scoop every other day. We have 2 large cats (13lbs and 15lbs) as well as a small one. I actually got this box b/c the 15lb-er is so long and needed the space. Aside from the issue with the exact Moderna liners being available, I love it!

I am very happy with how little litter gets brought outside of the box. I just use a wee-wee pad infront that I can pick-up & shake the litter back into the box. And the clear hood really does help with the odor as well. Much better than the ones that have the slits/charcoal filters in the top. And the ease/speed of cleaning this product can't be beat!

This box will greatly reduce the litter scatter! The cat can get in and fling litter to his/her heart's content. Make sure the litter is below the lip of the box though. As far as odor goes, the enclosed top is a trade off on litter scatter. It will reduce odor initially, if you get my "drift". But the ammonia odor is stronger. You need to scoop daily or every other day. The high sides make it easy to tip the box to find the wet spots and solid waste to reduce litter waste. That is a great feature! Cleaning with vinegar water and letting dry before refilling has helped keep ours good and clean from one time to the next. We liked first one so well, we bought a second one.

This box probably would work for you, but if you have a scatter problem, my best guess would be the top-opening one. As far as odor, try changing litters. Also, be SURE to clean twice a day, to keep odor and bacteria down. This box works best for me, because my male kitties are HUGE, and they're very comfortable with it, but still have a bit of scatter.

It's hard to prevent litter scatter in my opinion.
For the odor issue...is the cat healthy? Do you scoop the box regularly? A healthy cat on a quality food diet should have little to no odor to their stool. If the urine is strong in smell, it might indicate a health issue.

It holds similar amounts of litter that most litter boxes hold -- as much or as little as you care to put in it. The top is what makes it appear so large although I guess it is slightly taller than traditional open litter boxes. But no rule says you have to fill it up. I buy an extremely good clumping litter with excellent clumping and odor control so I can just dig out what needs to go. If you get the right kind of litter you may not have to do a complete dump, overhaul and cleaning for several months. But that does entail super regular and rigorous maintenance.

This box would be find for one cat or more. But a litter box needs to be scooped out every couple of days & totally cleaned once a week. Which means getting rid of the soiled litter, washing the box ( outside with a garden hose is best ) then drying & re-filling with fresh litter. Cats are clean animals & like clean places to do their business!

answer 3
Since I have so many cats, I buy the 40 pound box and use a ceramic cup to scoop out the litter. I put enough litter cover the pan and provide a nice mound for them to step on. Years ago, I switched to the clump litter and it cuts down on wasting. I scoop out the mess and top the pan off.

answer 4
You control how much you put in the box. The beauty of this box is that the cats can scratch and fling litter as cats do and it is contained. Happy kitty- happy parents. You can tip the box, because of the high sides, to expose the urine spots to scoop out the wet litter and that wastes less litter that way! We scoop daily or every other day at most- because there can be a little more odor than with the open top litter box. But we hate walking in kitty litter so prefer to scoop daily! Wash with vinegar water and dry.

I add a 20 pound box of scoopable litter. Since more than one uses mine, i have to add throughout the week. Close to "wash litter box" day, i just let it run a little lower on litter than normal to prevent waste.

answer 6
You should ALWAYS scoop the litter daily or at least weekly, adding more litter each time you scoop some out. You should completely dump the litter and trade for fresh every couple weeks. this is for cleanliness and it really has nothing to do with how much litter the box can hold!

What is the height of the BOTTOM part of the box at the REAR of the box?

In other words, how tall is the bottom part of the box only, at the very back of the box (not including the top)?

Your question came up under the "PETCO Jumbo Enclosed Litter Box" (SKU: 1282891) description.
If you are referring to the PETCO Jumbo Enclosed Litter Box, I can tell you that it only comes in one color. Light tan/beige on the bottom, and the lid is clear.
Hope that helps!

Yes.

The Jonny Cat Heavy Duty Liners (3ft x 18in) fit perfectly! So do the Fresh Kitty Biodegradable Litter Box Liners, but they are not as thick.

you can't use litter liners with this box because there are little holes on the floor of the box for urine to go through to get to the tray on the bottom. the good news is that you really don't need litter liners - the box is very low maintenance!

I haven't seen any, but if you buy one, your cat will love the clear top too. It is a hoot to see your cat sitting in the box looking out at you. Ours initially, looked startled. Now they ignore us. They do like that they can see if the other cat is "lurking" about.

It might, a 10 pound cat can use the jumbo litter box without a problem. The top easily detaches. However,I just saw a Mega box at the local Petco, it's even bigger with no top,a small dog could use it or you could fill it with water and raise ducks in it It's really big!

I've never tried that but I see no reason that it would not work. Like I said, the box easily contains our cats' efforts to "spray" so I imagine it would perform equally as well for a dog "lifting his leg."

I don't use a litter liner. With the high sides, I tip the box to expose the urine spot and scoop it out. I do scoop daily because it can be a bit smelly with the dome. My cats are finicky and they won't use it if it smells funky. Crossed furry legs for them- until we scoop! Once a week, I clean with vinegar water and dry in sun.

I purchase heavy duty liners 36 x 19 x 2 mil made by Whisker City at my local Pet Smart for around $2.00, but can also find that same size at my grocery store. Although I clean the litter boxes every day, I only change litter every 5 - 6 weeks and these liners are never ripped. I also feel the lid helps to contain odors.

Question

Do rounded liners exist that can be used with this litterbox?

I just purchased the Petco Jumbo enclosed litter box a few days ago. So far, so good. If it works long-term for my over-the-edge squatter, I might fall in love with it.

My question: Does anyone know if there are rounded litter pan liners that can be used with this box? I am currently using jumbo liners, and they do fit, but create a very unfortunate pocket in the front of the litter pan, since they are intended for square boxes. My cats both insist on urinating at the front of the box, which results in a lot of clumped litter that is stuck in the plastic liner pocket, and difficult to scoop. Any advice is appreciated!
