you definitely need the large version for rabbits, but yes, this works pretty well for them as long as your rabbit isn't a jumper (since it's only 2' tall). if you have a rabbit that likes to jump, I recommend the "Precision Pet Eight Panel Wire Pen" (found in the dog section) in the 30'', 36'' or 48'' size (I started out with this pen for my rabbits to play in and later upgraded to the precision pet pens so that I could put cardboard boxes and such in their pen).

The bottom is metal, and the wires are metal covered with a plastic coating, so the bottom is fine, but it probably would chew the coating off the wire. They have made it this way for reptiles that rub their noses on cages, so they are protected.

The small pen is very small, so if you have a large rabbit, it would be better to get the larger pen. It would allow your rabbit much more room to play.

the large size would definitely work for a guinea pig overnight... the small one would be uncomfortably small for them, though.

Question

Would this be able to keep two bunnies?

Im considering getting two rabbits, a Florida White and English Spot. For the most part they will be running around my room, however, when I sleep, and (once school starts) when Im at school, they will need to be contained.
My question is would this be a good home for them to stay in when Im away and not able to look after them. If not, what would you recommend for two rabbits to stay in for a generally short period of time. Also, would they be able to knock it over, and escape? Even though I always have my door shut, Im just curious.

bunnies are surprisingly active in the middle of the night - one of these pens (in the large size, of course) would be awfully little space for two rabbits. I recommend getting two and connecting them together. if either of your rabbits is a jumper, though, this playpen may not work as it's only 2' tall - for a taller play pen, I recommend the "Precision Pet Eight Panel Wire Pen" (found in the dog section of Petco's site).

It is a very sturdy cage, and they could not knock it over, especially if you do not add the wheels....however, it is very tall - 4 feet, and you would be wasting more than half the cage for their confined times.

depends on the rabbit (their size/whether or not they're a jumper). I have a holland lop and a lionhead, both about 4 months old/2 lbs and the lionhead is a jumper - neither of them have been able to scale this and I use two playpens as a permanent run attached to their C&C condo. one playpen wouldn't be much space for a bunny, but two (or two attached to a C&C cage) would work great.

Does this cage have a bottom? I might get a pet rabbit and I need a place to keep it while its cage is being cleaned so I need a small cage with a bottom. Also, is the small big enough for a rabbit? Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Yes, mine did in only a few minutes. I would go with the Marshall Play Pen, it's higher quality and ha higher horizontal cross bars so it is harder for ferrets to climb out of.

The Ware Small Animal Play Pen (16 panel) provides bunnies, such as your Netherland Dwarf, with additional space for play and exercise. It is a great supplement to their cage, as it expands living space. It is not designed to take the place of a cage, however. We would recommend using the Play Pen as a supervised play and exercise space. Your bunny would be more safe and secure in a cage while you are away. Perhaps the Ware Indoor 4 Level Hutch or the Ware Living Room Series Rabbit Cage would be good choices for your Netherland Dwarf.

The Ware Small Animal Play Pen (the six panel) is designed with pet mice, hamsters and dwarf hamsters in mind. Your dwarf hamster should be able to play with toys and scamper about in this spacious exercise pen, though supervision is always recommended when your pet is outside his or her cage. The Play Pen is made of powder coated wire, so it is easily wiped clean and should not retain odors.
