What are the dimensions of the part you put in the water?

I've got a bird fountain and need to know width. I believe what you have on listing is length? Not sure.

This is a good question. Don't assume it looks anything like the photo shown on the website. The heater is round and has a cord attached. It measures just under 5-inches round and is about 1-inch thick. The one I ordered in 2/2013 is not irregular shaped like the photo shown on Petco.com. I have attached a few photos of what the current model looks like. Actually, I like it better than the original, as it has a lower profile and as a result, it is easier to submerge in water.
