The trixie cat tower clearly shows a picture of a hammock, however one is not listed in the description. Does this have one or not?

Yes it does come with a hammock even though it is not listed. The hammock looks more like a solid "net" that you would catch a fish in hahaha. In the photo on the website, the hammock is the thing hanging off the the right hand side above the cubby.

answer 2
It actually has two. The round one is on the right in the product picture and is a true hammock. The bottom left "platform" in the picture is cloth over a wire outside frame.

There are two hammocks... a square one at the first level up from the floor, and a round one higher up (as shown in the picture).

yes it has a hammock, it also has a square hammock but its tighter and it looks the same as the square platforms that's why you can't see it in the picture.

The product is adjustable to fit both, but 96" is a tight fit. Mine measure 95" and I had to work on things a bit to get a fit that was functional. I received two extra shorter posts with mine and used one of those at the top instead of the called for longer one that was supplied. It is working fairly well - we'll see if it holds up over time.

It's adjustable from 96 to 106. The top piece is a screw with a pad that unscrews and wedges against the ceiling. Since you wrote this almost a year ago, I imagine you got it already our something else and don't care anymore.

answer 3
My ceiling is 8 ft (96") high, and this cat tree JUST fits, with the ceiling attachment, which I would say is totally necessary. I believe they say "106") because the ceiling attachment is quite long, and can probably reach that high if you'd need it to.

There is no way this item can be 36" high. That would make it 3 feet high.

One of my cats is over 12 lbs, and she has no problem sleeping in the hammock. The fact that you have the extension bar that goes to the ceiling makes the whole tree more stable.

I'd imagine so. Mine are both 8 lbs, but I didn't even use the ceiling wedge and it is really sturdy. Your cats might not like the bowl bed on the right, since it flexes a little when my cats get in. Once mine figured out that it flexes, but doesn't fall, they were fine.

answer 4
My cats are about 11 and 13 lbs. My 13 lb. cat loves this tree, and is able to climb it and use the platforms, and the round hammock is holding up well. I think he must have jumped down onto the square hammock, and the frame bent a little bit, but I was able to bend it back. I'm not sure how many times that will work before it breaks. They haven't shown any interest in the open "log" shaped thing near the top... I think it's probably too small for them, but they're enjoying it (especially the sisal posts), and it's very sturdy, when the ceiling attachment is used (I wouldn't dare use it without the ceiling attachment).

does not screw into ceiling there is a small round cap/disc that you brace up against the ceiling and adjust with a long threaded rod and wingnut works great when you get it figured out :)

answer 2
No, the ceiling attachment does not screw into the ceiling. It has a long bolt that goes into one of the posts, and then a wing nut that you adjust to snug the cushioned ceiling pad against the ceiling.

answer 3
The ceiling attachment is screwed UP to the ceiling. There is a long piece of threaded rod with a padded end that creates adjustable tension against the ceiling. A wing nut locks the threaded rod in place. System works fairly well. ** The plastic endcaps w/metal threaded inserts on the posts are only going to survive so much tension before stripping/breaking.

answer 4
It's a big screw with a carpeted pad on one end. The end without the pad screws into the top post of the tree. Once the tree is up, you unscrew until the pad hits and wedges against the ceiling. Leaves no marks or damage.

There are two caves, three upper solo small platforms, two lower platforms, and two small balconies outside the upper cave. There are no hammocks included. It should be possible to attach them to the undersides of platforms with screws or bolts, but holes and hardware for such are not provided. I would NOT recommend trying to hang a hammock off the underside of the three upper solo platforms, as it would probably eventually break away the column it was attached to. The upper balconies would work well though.

There are no places to put any other parts on this unit. It has no hammocks with it at all. Just two trays - which are kinda small..my adult cats have to curl up to sleep on them. All in all a good unit at the sale price. Petco Brand is sturdier than the Aramak brand.

Question

Can I leave off the platform and hammock that stick out to the left and right?

Our space is just big enough for the base, but not wide enough for the platform and hammock that stick out to the left and right. Can they be left out when assembling the unit, so that it's no wider than the base? Or could they be re-positioned (rotated) so they don't stick out? Thanks.
