The bars are pretty sturdy. I have 2 ferrets and they haven't made a dent in them. It also helps the bars are vertical which is hard for them to try to work over.

I had to hit the cage with a hammer to get it to go together and you would have no idea looking at it. Also my 55lb dog jumped up on it and it's still perfect.

Yes the bars are very sturdy I have never owned a ferret before but I know the bars in this cage are strong unlike most cages....I can't bend the bars without some kind of tool.

They are little fleece slip covers since the ramps are not solid. They can also be flipped to be purple.

What you are seeing that look like blue stairs are cloth ramp covers to make the ramps more comfy on little ferret feet.

Yes, but only with the other newer versions. So 181 and 182 are compatible, can't mix the 141, 142, or 143 with it.

The Ferret Nation model 183 add-on unit can be added onto the Ferret Nation model 181 to create a double unit or added to the 182 to create a triple level unit.

It's all personal choice. Majority of the time they end up playing with random objects you were about to throw away. A single unit would be enough for 2 in my opinion. Either way, they still need roaming time outside the cage. But the more the merrier.

answer 2
I have 2 ferrets in mine along with one hanging tunnel, two hammocks, a large igloo, a large litter box, two food bowls, one water bottle 2 blankets and a handful of toys. We also sometimes let my miniature dachshund get in the cage with the ferrets, so there is plenty of room!
