this particular gate only opens one way depending on the way you set it up. It could either be a pull or push device depending on your preference.

It looks as though this gate will open both ways if you can remove the locking mechanism attached to the bottom of the gate. However, it is attached with screws that have a round center. Not sure the tool that would remove this (not a phillips, allen or straight screw driver).

Hi Killeen,

I am not so happy with gates opening to two sides. The door has to swing away from the dangerous zone. If the door can only be opened to one side the other side is much more protected.

I bought a pg35 from cardinal gates and I liked it

Good luck with your purchasing!

Thanks for your question. This gate is 29.75 inches tall. In some cases you can install it a bit higher off the floor, as long as your dogs can't get UNDER the gate.
As an alternative, you might want to consider the Duragate (PETCO SKU: 1309544). It's hardware-mounted and is 29.5 inches tall but it's the only gate that has HEIGHT extensions! Each extension adds 8 more inches of height to the gate. See PETCO SKU: 1309722. You can add a maximum of TWO height extensions to the Duragate, adding an additional 16 inches of height for a gate a total of 45.5 inches tall.
Functionally, it could be taller depending on how high off the floor you mount the gate. Again, mounting it high enough for your dog to go UNDER is not recommended. See photos of this gate with 1 and 2 top extensions. Hope this helps!

To make this gate go to 60 inches, you could just buy three 10" extenders. I needed the gate to go to 41" and I bought 1 extender...it fits perfectly. Unfortunately buying three extenders makes the gate pretty expensive as I think one extender is around $30.00. I'm not sure you just want a pressure gate for 60" though...as you may have to affix the cups (that come with the gate) to the wall to make it more secure. I would suggest trying it if you want to spend the money. If it doesn't work just return the gate to Petco.

Sorry, no it cannot. It is steel and will rust if used outdoors. However, Cardinal Gates manufactures a pet safety gate ideal for use outside. Search 1455702 on PETCO.com to see the Cardinal Gates Stairway Special Outdoor Gate.

Congratulations on your sweet new family member! The Autolock Pressure Gate sits on the floor so there is no getting under the gate. The bar spacing on this gate model measures 2.5 inches--fairly narrow but you can decide if your pup is small enough to pass through the space. Good luck! See attached photo of full-grown Yorkie with this gate. Thanks for your question.

Hello,
Thanks for your question! The Auto-Lock Pressure Gate may be used at the BOTTOM of the stairs only, provided you can install it against the wall and/or banister with the required amount of tensions needed to make the gate secure and effective. Proper installation also helps the latch work correctly.
NO pressure gate--not this one or ANY other--is recommended for top-of-stair use.
If you decide to install this gate at the bottom of your stairs, note that the door swings open in just 1 direction. Also, there is a stabilizing bar at the bottom of this gate--something to be mindful of in a high-traffic area like stairs.
For top and bottom of stairs, we recommend gates that are wall-mounted with hardware.
Hope this helps!
