The bar spacing on this product, the Cardinal Gates Wood Auto-Lock Pressure Pet Gate, is 2.5 inches--pretty narrow but you can decide if your 5lb pup can pass through that space. The attached photo shows this gate with 2 of the available 5-inch width extensions. Extensions are optional/sold separately.

Can I add 3 of the 10 inch extensions to get 59-63" or would it be unstable?

I have one opening that is exactlyl 59" and one that is 63"

Thanks for your question. For the Cardinal Gates Autolock Pressure Gate (Model PG-35) we recommend a maximum of no more than 20 inches in extensions, in any combination of 5-inch or 10-inch extensions. This is for maximum stability and to ensure proper latch function. Anything wider may become unstable/wobbly.
