I have 3 cats. I filled the feeder to full capacity and they are still eating from it without a refill after 2 weeks. No worries about 4-6 feedings. It is not on a timer but food comes down at a reasonable rate.

answer 2
No timer.. it fills up as the food is emptied. I put 20 lbs of feed in mine and with 7 chickens it is emptied every 3 days. But a heavier food for a small or medium dog should last longer? Put a food they don't like as much but is healthy and they won't eat as much maybe?

I have a small pup and this feeder holds quite a bit of food. I go for a few a week or so before having to refill and I only fill it half way.

No. there is not a timer on it.

I have chickens and keep the feeder on a cinder block. No ants.. but maybe the chickens are why? And because the food doesn't sit long enough?
