The cube is about 18 inches square with an opening on 2 sides. All but my biggest cat can get in it although they don't use it much because they prefer the top perches.

Yes. Because of the large base and the weight, this is probably the most stable cat tree you'll find. We have it on a carpet and it's very stable.

the posts are hollow cardboard wrapped with rope. they have plastic plugs in the top & bottom that house the nut that secures the posts to the platforms. be careful not to over tighten or the nut will pull out of the plastic.
