Hello, and thank you for your interest in PetSafe products!
The static stimulation from a remote trainer is very similar to the static electricity sometimes felt when you a metal doorknob is touched in winter. Training collars and other products that use stimulation work so well because they get your pet’s attention, similar to a tap on the shoulder. This helps to remind your pet to pay attention to you.
The surprise of the static stimulation is quite mild, particularly on the lowest levels. When training a pet, it’s recommended to start on the lowest level of stimulation and increase only if needed.
If you would like to learn more about this or other PetSafe training products, please feel free to call PetSafe Customer Care at 1-800-732-2677. We are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. Eastern Time and on Saturdays from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Eastern.
