answer 6
No, the gate will only swing 1 direction. It has an extra metal piece on the bottom that does not clear the threshold when it is lifted preventing it from swinging both ways.

Will this gate work at an angle? At top of stairs, one side is up to 6 inches back from the other side.

As long as the walls face each other, I believe it will work. The latch doesn't have to be directly across from the hinges but they do have to be facing each other. If you've got one straight wall and one angled wall, it won't work.

The gate is a small animal gate. Unless your cat is a tiger, I expect it can get through. The gate opening is 101/2 inches high and 7 inches wide.

answer 2
Only if you leave it propped ajar. The rungs are only 2 inches apart. Our 2 cats could not fit through it Im sure - but they never try because they are terrified of the dog. They sometimes sit on the other side of it, crying for someone to let them in when the dog is in her bed (crate).

I would think you can use it any where that you can secure the two side to a solid wall or structure like a cabinet.

answer 2
If you have somewhere to brace it, you can put it wherever. Our stairs at the bottom dont have walls on both sides, so we wouldnt be able to do that. I dont think you would want to put it against just a railing. It uses tension to stay in place.
