Questions & Answers for PETCO Petco High-Back Open Litter Pan

Question

Do your cats kick out litter through the lower side?

I like how it's low on the one side so they can step in instead of jump in, but do they kick out a lot of litter on that one low side when they are digging?

I am happy to say that not very much litter is kicked out the low (entrance) side.
A huge improvement over standard litter boxes!

Yes, mine do at times. Although I love these pans, that is the one issue I have with them--I do wish the fronts were higher.

answer 4
They do kick some out over the entrance but putting a piece of carpet there helps to contain it and can be taken outside and dumped, slapped clean.

That does not sound like a good idea at all!
While scratching in the litter box the cat could get paint in its claws, and then ingest it during the grooming process.

Kind of an interesting question, but since I'm a big fan of spray paint to change the look of an item, I can dig it (litter pan, get it?). Normal spray paint would probably chip off pretty quickly, but I recently found some spray paint specifically formulated by Kry*** (in case I can't use a manufacturer's name) for plastic and fiberglass. (I used it to touch up a small repair on a fiberglass tub surround.) I bet it would work for you.

answer 3
Not recommended. Spray paint is poisonous especially since cats will scratch in the litter box.

Question

Will this fit in the Merry Products Cat Washroom cabinet?

The opening to the litter tray cabinet is rather low, so the side of my current tray comes up too far. This could be a good solution, but the length is 18.5, and the interior length of the cabinet is 18.5, so not sure if it will be just right, or just a bit too long.
