If your doxie can eat dry dog food, she can eat this. We use this as a reward for our dog's good behavior so she thinks it is a treat and she loves it.

I have been using this for my 9 year old lab for a year (leg and hip problems). Works very well for pain maintenance.

The pills are about the size of a quarter (thicker though) and do break in half. They smell like a bad beef broth as I expect that is the taste the company was going for. My dog eats them with no problem but he is the furthest thing from picky.

Also, when his legs seem to be bothering him, I give him another supplement that Petco actually makes called Alleviate. After a few days the pain will subside and I'll take him off those pills. Might want to look into that. Those pills are really cheap.

Hope this helped :)

Each tab is 500mg. They are scored and have to be cut in half for pups under 25 pounds.

I give 500 mg glucosamine/chondroitin + MSM twice daily to 25 lb. dog,
11 years old. Less than that seemed to make no difference.

There should be dosing recommendations on the back of the bottle. I suggest going the full amount of time in the first phase to build up the level in the dog's system. Then, go to the maintenance dose. I adjust the dosing (now that we've done the initial "break in") based upon the weather as that will affect my dog's arthritis. For example, the maintenance dose for my 76 lb lab is 1 in the morning and 1 at night, but on days it's damp or very rainy, I give him 2 pills in the morning and 1 at night which works well for him. You'll get to know what your dog needs.

Hi Ashley; I do not know how your dog is today however my comment is

sometimes the dog or cat (or bird or lizard) can have "weak hind legs"; as they get older or anytime in their lives; this might be due to "Vitamin deficiencies"; this affects the nerves in their hind legs; the Vitamin is called Vitamin B-Complex and or "a multivitamin formula"; use daily.
