For wire cages, you may remove the base and it will lock in pretty good to the wire. For tanks like what I have, you can just set it in with the base on whatever way you want it facing! Your pets wont be able to lift it up or tip it.

answer 2
Either way! I have an aquarium for my mouse and use the stand that is included to put it on the floor of the aquarium. Or the yellow piece on the back twists off and you can attach it through the bars in a metal cage :)

answer 3
Hi,

It is attachable to any cage bars. If you are attaching it this way then you can discard the stand easily.

If you prefer, just keep the stand on and place it anywhere in your cage or tank. I recommend if you use the stand to pat down the bedding firmly and place it gently on top, or else you will hear it racking on the glass floor.

Hope this helps!

either. Depends on the setup. a tank you could just put it in. A crittertrail cage can be used to attach the wheel.

I had to buy the giant ( 12 inch) for my syrian hammy. She is now in a small guinea pig cage because the hammy cages were too small for her to be happy in. She runs allll night in the wheel and has not complained one bit about it

answer 2
I would say no, unless you have a horizontal bar at an appropriate level. If you attach it to vertical bars, it will slide down unless there is a bar underneath the clip to hold it in place. I have two of these wheels and neither has a clip tight enough to stop it from sliding down a metal bar. I hope this helps. :-)

Had the same problem. The stand will come off, pull it downwards. After it detaches, put the wheel inside the cage and attach to the cage.

Question

What size should I use for rats?

I don't want to use the 12" one. That is WAY too big. So would the 6.5" one be good for a small rat? (when I say small I mean like the type. She is about 5.5" without tail.)

No. I don't have rats but your rat is only 1 inch smaller than this wheel! This wheel is way to small for her, it'll deff be bad for her back. I would get the 12" or maybe an 11" one.
