answer 1
Not if you have your water level high enough. I keep my water about an inch from where the water would filter out the top. If it gets much lower then that, then it makes a lot of noise.

answer 2
no it does not. it produces a very nice stream of water and when the water starts making a lot of noise it's a sign to check the filter. I really like this product.

answer 5
The machine itself makes NO noise, the water that comes out of the filter makes splashing sounds.. This can be reduced by adding more water but all in all it's really quiet.

Yes, but keep in mind, there are tiny slots in the bottom that might have a possibility of sucking in a fish tail. You may be able to find a different filter for fish that would be better for them.

answer 2
Yes it's actually better than regular fish filter because this filter won't suck up the fish. and it's a stronger cleaner than the other fish filters.

did you try cleaning the impeller? twist off the bottom(or if there are screws remove them), and you will see a fan like blade part, that is the impeller, take that out, wash it, clean the little hole it rests in, put the impeller back, put everything back together, and plug it in.

no, too small I reconmend a canister or power filter such as fluval, aquaclear, tetra whisper, tetra ex, ehiem, etc.

If you want an internal filter, why don't you search petco for tetra internal filter and get 3 of the 40i versions
