i am using science diet for for my 9 1/2 year old dog the one i have been using says good for dogs 1 to 6 years old which one should i be using

he is suposed to be about 11 ounds according to my vet. he loves food like i do but his gaining a couple of pounds is bad my vet says. like i said he is 9 1/2 years old
