Pine, cedar, and other evergreen woods are poisonous to hermit crabs. Before putting ANY wood item in their crabitat, make sure you know what type it is.
Grapewood, Mopani, Oak, and Cholla are all safe for hermit crabs.

Yep! Hermit crabs love to climb on it and burrow under it! Just make sure to supervise your crabs when using this product because if they have not molted in a while or have been in a cage or tank (hopefully you put them in a tank) with gravel, they might have trouble gripping the bark.

No- a rodent will chew the paint off of it-- probably not toxic, but there are better options. (old tupperware container, for example.

Yes, the log is natural pine and it can be used for snakes as it is animal safe.
