My pup is six months and has no problems with them. They are somewhat soft. You could probably mash them with your fingers. They are small too.

Question

Any advice on low fat, all natural canine diets? Needs to be dry food.

Currently my almost 3 year old Beagle/Husky/Shep Rescue who has Pica, is on Science Diets R/D and it's extensive but she has lost 5 lbs so far. She has 10 to go. I have been researching for an all natural dog food with low fat and sodium. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks- Autumn

I would look into Natural Balance L.I.D. (limited ingredient diet). It's probably half or less in cost than Science Diet AND it doesn't contain all the garbage (like by-products). I would suggest the leaner protein flavors like Bison and sweet potato - or Venison and sweet potato. It contains 1 protein and 1 carb and is very balanced nutrition - with very little ingredients. I have learned the hard way to stay away from ANY pet food that contains junk, fillers or anything else we wouldn't eat. "By-products" means anything they could find no healthy use for - feet, beaks, digest(?), etc....

The bag states give as a treat. No exact amount is given. My guess would depend on the size of the dog. Lesser amounts for a small dog vs a large dog. I have a 45 lb male Corgi and he could eat a 10 oz bag if I let him...he loves these treats. But I use them for training purposes and 10 bite size treats a day are his limit.
