I can't directly answer your question without knowing the dimensions of your 2.5 gallon tank. Assuming it's a "regular" tank, it'll be 13 inches long. The smallest light is 18 inches long, so no, it won't fit your current tank.

I got the mini CFL that are equal to a 60 watt bulb. They are typed at 6,500k and the tank looks wonderful. It's a natural daylight and the plants seem to grow just fine...

The incandescent strip lights are available only in black. If you prefer the oak color, you will need to upgrade to fluorescent.

Thank you for your question Jules15. The strip lights are designed to be placed on top of a Versa-Top (hinged glass hood) or to be used as replacement lights on Aqueon Full Aquarium Hoods. These should not be placed directly over water and are designed to have a glass or plastic screen between them and the water.

Thank you for your question Angie03. An aquarium that measures 48" wide x 13" deep x 21" tall is 55 gallons. You could use either a 48" Full Deluxe Hood or two 24" Full Deluxe Hoods and let them rest on the cross-brace in the center of the aquarium.

Not very well. Technically you could put it onto a Versa-Top (glass cover), but it would not cover the 30" wide aquarium and not produce enough light for optimal aesthetics.

The biggest concern I would have in putting a UVB lamp into one of these fixtures is the wattage. If you kept under 15 watts on the 12" strip-light or 25 watts on the 20" strip-light this fixture would work.
